Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of mobile RPG I keep meaning to play for twenty minutes and then look up two hours later. You gather a party of misfits, march across a hand-drawn continent, and untangle a plot about a fading sun that's genuinely worth following. The writing has real personality — companions bicker, and their side quests changed how I felt about them.
Combat is turn-based and clean. You slot skills, read enemy patterns, and manage a small energy pool instead of mashing buttons. Progression comes from gear, skill trees and the way you pair characters, so experimenting with your party actually matters.
My only complaint is that the mid-game stalls a little before the second act opens up. Push through it — the payoff is one of the better mobile RPG stories I've played this year.
What we liked
- Genuinely good writing and characters
- Thoughtful turn-based combat
- Deep party and skill customisation
